This was a long weekend trip to look at the colors of fall in the GA mountains.  We booked at the last minute and the last site available was the ADA/Handicapped site.  The entire site including the "living" area is blacktop, but will all the leaves we never noticed.  While the campground was sold out, four sites in the west campground and numerous sites in the east campground sat vacant.

I was surprised that even with the cool weather, most sites were occupied by tents or pop ups.  Having not needed them earlier in the season, we did not have my heated mattress cover or ceramic heater with us, so the furnace was what we used, along with sleeping bags as blankets.

Attentive campground hosts assure that everything in the park is always in tip top shape.

While reservations are taken, they are not site specific.  You can reserve one of three type sites; Type 7 which is the smaller of the sites, Type 9 which are the larger of the sites and a handicapped site.  Upon arrival, if you have a Type 7 reservation you can take your pick of the sites marked with a red site sign, If you have a Type 9 reservation you take your pick of the sites with a green site sign.  A pop up will fit on either type site, and I must admit that both types have a mix of great sites and not so great sites.
